Gina, Does it mean I'm in trouble if I --- seriously --- am beginning to consider the second one (involved in a group Strickland DNA study now) and probably would do the last one? This came across another list and thought it might give you a good chuckle or two..... ~gina~ YOU KNOW YOU'RE TAKING GENEALOGY TOO SERIOUSLY IF...... You are the only person to show up at the cemetery research party with a shovel. To put the "final touches" on your genealogical research, you've asked all of your closest relatives to provide DNA samples. You were instrumental in having "non-genealogical use of the genealogy room copy machine" classified as a federal hate crime. Your house leans slightly toward the side where your genealogical records are stored. You decided to take a two-week break from genealogy, and the U. S. Postal Office immediately laid off 1,500 employees. Out of respect for your best friend's unquestioned reputation for honesty and integrity, you are willing to turn off that noisy surveillance camera while she reviews your 57 genealogical research notebooks in your home. The armed security guard, however, will remain. During an ice storm and power outage, you ignore the pleas of your shivering spouse and place your last quilt around that 1886 photograph of dear Uncle George. Ed McMahon, several t.v. cameras and an envelope from Publishers Clearing House arrive at your front door on Super Bowl Sunday, amd the first thing you say is, "Are you related to the McMahons of Ohio?" "A Loving Family" and "Financial Security" have moved up to second and third, respectively, on your list of life's goals, but still lag far behind "Owning My Own Microfilm Reader." A magical genie appears and agrees to grant your any one wish, and you ask that the 1890 census be restored Visit my homepage at http://hometown.aol.com/ginaburningsky/myhomepage/business.html ==== MOGREENE Mailing List ==== List admin: [email protected] ============================== Visit Ancestry.com for a FREE 14-Day Trial and enjoy access to the #1 Source for Family History Online. Zachariah was living in Greene Co., MO., in 1880, but Elizabeth had already died. She must have died between 1872 and 1880, because they had a dt named Rachel born abt 1872. I'd love to hear from you, if you think this might be the same Tom. Donna Cooper
I can't say as I know anyone at the moment who is researching that line.........I used to however. I have had to cut back on my research because of my eyesight (old age). But I have a lot of notes on that line, or it seems like a lot until you look for a specific person and it always turns out you don't have it. Anyway, tell me who your looking for and I'll see if I have it. I'm sure there are descendants in Greene, Webster, Christian Co's. When I was growing up in Springfield, there were 3 lines of West's that I was aware of. Yours, mine, and a black line. My folks were around Strafford, Springfield, etc. Holler at me, Polly
Polly- I am researching the West family who had come to the Strafford area from Kentucky and Mississippi, apparently. -Silas Mercer West, born about 1817 in Kentucky, and his wife, who was born in Mississippi, I think. . . . While these are not your Wests, seemingly, I wonder whether you are aware of anyone besides me who might be researching this family. . . . -Becky (Chandler) Aldridge

BRADLEY, who was born in Springfield, Greene county MO. abt. 1860. Parents were William BRADLEY and Nancy LEEK BRADLEY. He was married to Kate M. JENNINGS, in 1879 at the home of Issac HASTEN, in Springfield. They had possibly 4 children. 3 boys and one girl. The girl was Addie BRADLEY b. 27 July 1885 in Cove Springs, Greene County MO. There were possibly 2 older children, that we belive were born in 1880, 1882. Not positive they were both or either one boys. The last child born was William C. BRADLEY, b. Dec. 1886, d. Feb. 1887 (MO.State Archives, birth and death records from 1883.)Kate died in 1888, at the age of 27. They are not listed on the 1900 census for Greene County. We believe that James may have left the county and maybe the state following her death. James and Kate were my Ggrandparents. Addie, my Grandmother, died in 1953. I never knew her. There are no living relatives who know anything about James and where he might have gone following the death of Kate, or what happened to the two other children. There is a time span of about 9 years from when GGgrandma Kate died and when we located our grandmother Addie. She was married in Siloam Springs AR to a Issac DOBBS. We don't know if she and her siblings were raised by someone else or their father. Can anyone help? We have been searching for a long time, and have found nothing but brick walls. Thanks

In 1850, William H. Dennis and his family are living in Taylor Township of Greene County Missouri. According to this census record, William was born about 1813 in Tennessee. There are 10 Smith children in the household, all of them born in Tennessee. The youngest one is 3 years old, so the family has arrived in Missouri after 1847. One daughter, Nancy Dennis married Sydney Wheeler, and then married the son of a neighbor, Geo. Washington Smith. In 1860, George W. Smith and his young family is living in Laclede County. He likely died in the Civil War, and the widow Smith married William Hendricks/Hendrix abt. 1866 and they are found in Webster Co. Mo. in 1870. I am looking for descendants of Hiram Smith. Two children moved to California with their families. What happened to the other Smith children? Any help will be appreciated, Wanda
