Posted on: Greene Co. Mo Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/Greene/10970 Surname: Baldwin, Alberty, Devers, Haggard ------------------------- I'm looking for Information on my Grandfather, a Charles M. Baldwin, born 1868 Indiana, Hancock County. I don't know too much about him except that he was married to Clara Bell Devers abt 1910. He worked for the Railroad at the time he was married to Clara. He was a womanizer and came and went from her home in Carthage, Missouri, Jasper County enough times to produce 5 children. He left her for good shortly after the birth of Clara's last son in 1920. Clara spread the story around that Charles had died, I guess she was trying to save her dignity, but he was alive until the 50's or 60's and living in Springfield, Missouri, according to one of my cousins. I'm trying to find out who his parents were and where they came from for Genealogy purposes only. I would appreciate any help in my quest to find out about my Grandfather. Thanks Eva Haven

Deciphering Handwriting at a Glance Concentrating on trying to decipher old, foreign and/or illegible handwriting in your genealogical documents can be frustrating. We're all familiar with the power of our peripheral vision capturing an image or a piece of information. Sometimes by setting the difficult document to the side and glancing at it with your peripheral vision, you may be able to make out that cryptic writing. Another way to try to read is to turn it upside down. Another perspective might help you see the information in a new way and solve your deciphering dilemma.
Hello to all, It's been a while since I've been on this list, and was hoping that some of you Civil War buffs out there can help me on this one. I'm trying to find out, which Confederate troops participated in the battle known as "Zagonyi's Charge" on Oct. 25, 1861, just outside of Springfield. Does anyone know the names of the various Confederate units that participated, or where I can find out this information? Thanks so much, in advance, for any help or information that you can give me - I really appreciate it!
