He was shot and killed around Cardwell in either the late 1860's or early 1870's. He was shot by a Mr.Steward. He had one son John Wesley Vaughan who married a Nancy Jane Cox of Lebanon, TN., in Missouri (location unknown) in 1880. They ended up in Granite, OK while Oklahoma was still a territory. Prior to 1908. They remained there until their deaths many years later. Riley apparently came to the US with his brothers Greene, and Joel from Wales via Ireland. Posted on: Greene Co. Mo Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/Greene/10975 Surname: Robberson, Miles ------------------------- Yes, Bennett Robberson is a name prominent in Greene County history. And the township Robberson is named for the family. There are many Robbersons, including a Bennet J. and a Bennet, and some Kings in our family files. However, I don't have anything there that would definitively connect your Robert Miles Robberson with these. I'll keep your query in mind and should I see anything that would seem to tie your Robert to the early Greene County Robbersons and/or Kings will let you know. . . . -Becky
One suggestion I got from a dedicated photographer and user of PhotoShop Scan the document and then, using PHotoshop tools, play around with color levels and contrasts. > From: [email protected] > Reply-To: [email protected] > Date: Mon, 21 May 2001 12:40:37 EDT > To: [email protected] > Subject: [MOGreene] Deciphering Handwriting at a Glance Hint > Resent-From: [email protected] > Resent-Date: Mon, 21 May 2001 09:41:12 -0700 > > Deciphering Handwriting at a Glance > > Concentrating on trying to decipher old, foreign and/or > illegible handwriting in your genealogical documents can be > frustrating. Posted on: Greene Co. Mo Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/Greene/10974 Surname: ROBBERSON, KING ------------------------- I'm looking for information on the parents of Robert Miles Robberson and his brother Unknown. Robert was born in Miles City, MT, on Feb. 17, 1917. He was the second child of Joseph Bennett Robberson and Etta Lola King. His father was a cla?... agent (according to his birth certificate, born in MS, which I believe meant Missouri, not Mississippi, according to his death cert., he was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma). His mother was also born, according to his birth certificate in MS, which I believe is Missouri, and according to his death certificate, St. Joseph, Missouri. Robert went on to live in Seattle, King County, Washington, where he died about January 1944. I am going to the library today to try to obtain his obituary through interlibrary loan. I hope to find more about my grandfather's family soon. In the meantime, I was told to check Greene County, MO, because of Robberson Township and the name Bennett Robberson. If anyone has any ideas, please help.

All I can say to that one is that it is too bad my family from that era are all dead. I am sure that one of them would have known him, having many womanizing men among them. My grandfather and father were both of that ilk. Have you tried the Rootsweb site and the California death records? He might be on there. That type seems to love it here in CA.
