July 11, 1888 Wednesday Took Ed's team and drove up to Stanberry for some of my household goods. Spent the night with Bud Lilly and returned the next day. July 16, 1888 Monday Moved my family from mother's to the house back of the store building in Amity. Aug. 18 1888 Saturday Minnie received a telegram that her father had been stricken with paralysis at Stanberry the day before. She left with the children for Stanberry on the morning passenger. Sept. 14, 1888 Friday Attended the St. Joseph's Fair, going down on the morning train. Returned in the evening. Sept. 26, 1888 Wednesday Served as foreman of the coroner's jury in the case of the two Italians killed by the cars the day before. Brakeman _____?________. Oct. 13, 1888 Saturday My family returned from an eight weeks visit at Stanberry. coming home the usual route on the cars. Nov. 6, 1888 Tuesday Rode over to Maysville with Frank Harwood in his wagon to vote. As usual I voted the Republican ticket. scratching the/three/thru(?) names. Nov. 20 1888 Tuesday Went to St. Joseph on business, taking George along with me. Returned in the evening. Nov. 27 1888 My family left for Stanberry to spend the winter. My mother moved to Amity today. +++++++++++++ The hardware store was still standing when we visited maybe four years ago. We neglected to walk around back to see where their quarters might have been.
