I know only that Xavier immigrated from Alcase-Lorraine to Canada then to the U.S. It is my understanding that Xavier claimed allegiance to France when he moved to Canada, however later Joseph claimed allegiance to Germany. Joseph served in the US civil war from May 1864-Sept 1864 as a 100 day volunteer. He was a member of Company C 138th Infantry which was made up of men from Indiana, PA, Mich. My uncle has papers of appreciation for service signed by President Lincoln and Edward Stanton(Sec. of War). It is possible that Joseph took part in Sherman's march to the sea.(not certain). I am looking for any information that can expand upon what I know. Was Minnie's maden name Ebersold? Don't have much info.
