    1. Gentry Co. Families to OK
    2. Long-time members, PLEASE forgive me -- but I do like to post this once or twice a year to catch the attention of newcomers. After living in Gentry Co. for many years, my FRIEND line [and inter-married SWEATs] migrated to what is now northeastern Oklahoma Co., OK. This happened when the Unassigned Lands were opened in 1889 -- yes, the famous "Run". My MILLIGANs followed when the adjacent Iowa Lands were opened in 1891. Tradition has it that there were a number of families who came to this area from Gentry Co. Allied names include NICHOLS and STANDLEY -- but there are undoubtedly others! We have been working on an area study that includes ALL of the original homesteaders in the two townships where the FRIENDs & MILLIGANs settled and have accumulated a fairly large database. In many cases, we have learned that a family came from MO but can't say which county -- so I'm still looking for families who moved from Gentry Co. to this part of Oklahoma. If you prefer to explore our database yourself, I maintain it on WorldConnect: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=smc If you'd rather have a lookup, I'll be delighted to comply -- but do ask that you write to me off-list. Always looking for blood-relatives & shirt-tail-kin! Sharon McAllister smcbox@cs.com
