So far I have gotten three email messages from a George Smith <gsmith@ims-1.com> in reply to my last message about the Gasconade County Bios, with the Sircam virus attached. I have emailed him directly with no reply. The last mail had an attachment called "news.doc.scr". If you have been getting any emails from anyone from this list with a file that has two suffixes, like xx.com.xls or xx.bat.scr, do not open the attachment. Been there done that. You do not know if you have the virus until it sends files out. This virus grabs any file from you computer (including personal data), attaches itself and sends it to all your unreplied mail. I got struck on July 27 and after deleting it I could not get in my computer without a lot of trouble. http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.sircam.worm@mm.html I don't normally discuss viruses in these lists, but this one came from a list subscriber, so beware to all that have sent a message on this list, he "George Smith" may be emailing you also. This to clarify that it is not intentional by George, but the virus does all the dirty work with him unaware. Click start and find, then type in "sir*.*" to see if sircam.exe is located on your computer. This is a serious worm with a backdoor trojan. So far I have gotten about a dozen mails with the virus. About four dozen Snow White's, but that wasn't from this list. -- Joe L.
