I was reading that Robert Fowler was first Constable of Clark Twp. in Gasconade Co. MO. What happened to Clark Twp? Has anyone ever seen anything else on Robert Fowler, or a Jackson H. Fowler or John C. Fowler? I know John C. Fowler married Olivia Heath (daughter of David and Ellen Heath) in Jan. 1843 Gasconade Co. MO. Robert Fowler signed a deed over to John C. Fowler and Jackson H. Fowler in Osage Co. MO 1843. Can anyone make any connections on this family? I am searching for the family in a church or on a census in the area? Ellen Heath shows as head of house in Gasconade Co. MO 1850 with the children who remained at home. I have wondered if the Robert Fowler in Pettis Co. MO 1850 is the same Robert Fowler in Gasconade Co. 1843? I know John C. Fowler was in Saline Co. MO 1850 (right next to Pettis Co. MO). I really would like to locate other descendants of this family, exchange information and see if together we could find a tie. Charlene ccs1101@aol.com

I just got back from a "walk about" in Franklin and Gasconade counties. (Did you know there are no campgrounds in either of those counties?) The Gasconade Historical Society has the original land records books. Their facilities are spectacular and the volunteers are wonderful!!! With the information I picked up from the deed books at the research center and the BLM online records of original land grants I making some great progress. Joe gave the link to BLM below but I think you would also want to contact the Gasconade Historical Society to see if they do lookups. They are volunteer -- so please be as precise with your request as possible. I didn't feel that asking them to do a land record lookup for my "John Brown" with no other info would be a reasonable request. But now that I have him tied to a particular piece of property and within a community of names who are related by blood, marriage or business I may be bugging them long distance myself with some specific requests.
