I am searching for any information on Sina Perkins Branson born 1835 in Gasconade County and married Robert C. White born 1825 in Virginia. Would you have any thing on this family? Edna & Bob, In our family tree, we have a "Martha Branson", born abt 1808 in Virginia, she married John McMillan and lived in Tennessee, before moving to Gasconade County, Missouri. John and Martha McMillian had three daughters, Mary, Matilda, and Martha. Mary McMillian was my great-great-grandmother. Does this help. Good Day, Wanting to know if anyone out there has access to will/probate records willing to do lookups. Looking for estate of Thomas Dyson d. 1884. The last record I have for him has him at 81 years old, living with George Maupen in Canaan Township. Prior to this in 1870, he was living in the city of Owensville. Thank you for your time.
Edna: What MO counties did you check for 1860 census? Sina's sister Nancy was in Pulaski Co. in 1860. I've checked that county's census but did not find Sina and husband. Other's went furthur south, some around Branson. I think you need to check most counties southeast of Gasconade. Unfortunately, I don't know of any general index for MO for 1860 or 1870. Some of the counties (like Pulaski) have census records online. Bob, Thanks so much, for this information. When I was in Missouri in June I went to the following county. Gasconade, Callaway, Franklin,Osage,Maries,Cole and went to the state archives in Jefferson City. I am just about to go to butting my head on this family. I did find them in 1880 in Jackson County, Arkansas, but then the next census was 1900 and neither one of them was in that one. Can not find when or where they died. I have found a lot on all of their children on down. I found Sina Branson on the 1850 census living with her brother, because both of her parents had died. I have not been able to find Robert White on any census before 1880. The census said he was born in Virginia, that his father was born in Ireland and his mother was born in Maryland. Thanks for listening to me. and any suggestion, I sure will follow it. Thanks, Edna Williams Burleson, Texas ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert Raup" <bobraup@verizon.net> To: <MOGASCON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, August 08, 2002 9:51 AM Subject: Re: [MOGASCON] BRANSON & WHITE > Edna: What MO counties did you check for 1860 census? Ann, Thanks, I will try this and see if I can find just any little thing. You probably would. Our LDS has it but I live in Missouri. I have to go back to the LDS in a couple of weeks if you would like I can look to see if they are on there before you spend the money to get the film. I'm not sure what the film number is but I can find out for you. I have a couple of pages of that census here at my house if you send me the names I will look on it to see if I can find them. Kath, thanks, to offer to help with records. I have already been to all the places that you talked about. I went to Mo. in June for almost 2 week and did nothing except research and did not find any thing. No land records on census on birth on tax records, I mean nothing. The only place I have found them was on the 1880 census in Jackson County, Arkansas, and it said all the children were born in Mo. I have records on the children after 1880, but nothing on Robert or Sina. I can't find when or where they died. Do I have to order the film for the 1864 census from LDS? Thanks for all your help. I understand. I have had quite a struggle with mine also. The census is available through the LDS and will cost you $3.50. Our county library has some stuff on Gasconade County like marriage records, census, and cemetary records. If you would like to send me the information of the people you are looking for I can look the next time I go to research but it may be a month or so before I make it to do it. Also have you written to the Gasconade Historical Society for information? Hi Kathy, No, I did not know, but will give it a try. This family is just about to put me under. I went to MO. and spent sometime researching them and did not come up with one little thing, not even a census.
