    3. >Why doesn't someone from the Historical Society keep us posted to news by way of internet. That is a very good question. Is anyone from the Historical Society on this list that could do this? > I'd join the society but the last time I checked, I couldn't afford to do so. Maybe they have lowered their rates? I don't know what the dues were when you last checked but I got a Membership Form when I was down there and here are the current *annual* rates (calendar year as near as I understand) . . . don't ask me what *participation* entails, this is what is written on the form . . . $10.00 - Individual Active (assumes participation in activities and projects) $15.00 - Joint Active (assumes participation in activities and projects) $25.00 - Contributing (participation in activities and projects optional) $30.00 - Civic or Service Organization $50.00 - Corporate or Business $150.00 - Individual Life (= one time payment) $200.00 - Joint Life (= one time payment) Would be nice if a Society member were on this list and could explain what *participation* entails. I grabbed up a flyer from the front desk about the Historical Society as I was leaving and didn't see the Rate Sheet until later so didn't have a chance to have the different options explained to me. > . . . but Gasconade hasn't been as responsive as the other two . . Now this is the *Historical Society* which is the new archives center in Hermann - not the one in Owensville, so we might be talking about two different entities. > I called a lady at the Historical Soc. on the 25th of July and was told it would be OK to be late as long as I had it in no later than the 15th of Aug Now I am beginning to get ticked off, despite my easy nature. They told my sister and myself that day (July 30) that if we wanted a picture included we had to do it *THAT DAY* and we had to order the books *THAT DAY* as well. We had to hurry back home and dig out the box of pictures and go through it and get back down there before they closed. > Was that news in today's paper? 3. Just read in today's paper from Hermann that the deadline to get your family's history in the book has been extended until September 30, 2002. If I wasn't such an easy-going person, that could really tick me off since I busted my butt to meet the original July 30 deadline and had to drive the paperwork down to Hermann in person after dealing with slow-poke siblings to get the final finishing details. :-) They told me that day they already had about 1000 submissions (I think they said they had 1100 for the first book) and were expecting a few late mailed bios to dribble in. 3. Edna and Judy: Martha Branson was a daughter of John Branson and Sarah Dillard. This John was a brother of Andrew Branson, father of Sina. In 1850 Census she is living with sister Nancy and brother-in-law Joseph Burgess. She and brother Henry Childers Branson were chief benificiaries of mother's will with mother stating that other children had been taken care of under father Andrew's will. 3. Hi, Has anyone ever seen anything on a Charles Thompson in Gasconade County during the 1820 time period? He paid taxes in 1820, and by 1822 he had moved to Texas. He may have married a local woman during that time. I am interested in finding her name. Thanks, RG

    1. [MOGASCON] Strings of strings
    2. Joe L. Miller
    3. I really appreciate how active the mailing list has been lately, it is really great, but would it be possible to delete the strings of strings that are not needed at the end of each message. It would sure help us trying to sort through them in the digests. -- Joe L.
