Good Day, I am hoping that with all the knowledgeable people there are on this list, that I can get a nudge in the right direction. I am researching a McCoy Dyson (b. 1834-???)/aka Mack Dyson, Coy Dyson. McCoy was born in North Carolina,in Iredell County and lived there until 1853. He then lived in Surry County, NC until 1857. I have no record of him again until 1880 where he turns up in the MO Census living in Boeuf, MO. Now I have tried in vain to gather some type of lead for these lost years (1857-1880), and another researcher friend of mine suggested that perhaps I try tracing him through Civil War documentation. Where do I start folks? Thank you for your time.
