I am inquiring about my great-grandmother who was married to a local boy to New Haven, Franklin Co., Mo. His name was Thomas Irving Shelton born Nov 13, 1844. Her name was Virginia Caroline Ellis born Dec 11, 1847 in Va., married Thomas Irving Crook in 1868 I think in Missouri but not sure, lived in NewHaven and had three children there in 1869, 1870 and 1872. She died there on March 8, 1873. She is buried there in that area somewhere. I would very much appreciate having any information you may find. I have a picture of the family and a portrait of her before marrying. The children's names were Mattie, Laura and an infant Eugene Sylvester Shelton, who died Aug 18, 1873, living only nine months. The mother (Virginia) lived only four months after the birth so I feel there was a connection there, possibly complications. Was that an influenza year? In the census of 1880, in Boef enumeration district, I find the fatherThomas and the two daughters living with his brother Wayne Shelton and his family. The end of the story is that the girls married and spent their lives on the west coast, Portland area, and Thomas married again and had another family and he died in Portland also in 1909. Thanks again in advance for any scrap or tidbit of info. Jack in Vancouver,Wa
