Boonville is in Cooper County. New Franklin is a small town just across the Missouri River from Boonville but in adjoining Howard County. There used to be a small town near New Franklin referred to as Old Franklin. I'm not sure if it still exists, or which county it was in. It's confusing when so many of the towns in Missouri aren't in the counties of the same name. There is also a small town named Linn that is in Osage County, nowhere near Linn County.
