I have been meaning to write and tell the list that we finally were able to make our trip from Texas to Franklin Co. this fall. Unfortunately, it fell during the Attack on America. However, our trip to the Washington Historical Library and Museum was a welcome relief from all the turmoil. Izzy was wonderful and so helpful. We were so impressed with the material there and found much to help us with our research. We went out to Neier and visited St. Joseph's church. The lady there helped us find Ferdinand Altemueller's grave and copied us the material from their journals. The ladies in the courthouse and library in Union were helpful. We found both marriage and probate records for Altemuellers and Bentmanns. Everyone was so nice to us. And by the way, the sheriff that we met in the courthouse recommended the Mexican restaurant in Union and it was as good TexMex as we find here in the Austin area. Doris Jablonski
