To obtain marriage records, copies are $1 per page (this is basically $1 per marriage). Certified would be $9 if necessary (unlikely). The address is Recorder of Deeds, 300 East Main, Room 101, Union MO 63084-1675. Their direct phone number is 636-583-6367. Have you checked the Franklin County Genealogy website lately? There is now a list (not complete) of known residents of the Franklin County Poor Farm !! If you are having trouble finding an ancestor, this might be the answer. In the days before Social Security and Old Age Assistance (an earlier form of relief for the elderly), people who were unable to work and had no relatives who could take them in were sent to the Poor Farm. When people died there, they were often buried on the site with no markers. Some were buried elsewhere and if that information is known, it is noted. Go to the site, then click on "links" and look for the link to information on wards of the court at <http://www.rootsweb.com/~mofrankl/index.html> Anyone with information as to who is buried in family graveyards (even if only one grave) is asked to provide that information for posting if it is not already in the Four Rivers cemetery books or if you have information about graves that were omitted from the books (most likely due to not having stones or an illegible stone). If you aren't sure, I can check the books for you. Have a good day!
