There was a significant number of African Americans here in the 1800s and on into the 20th century. There are still some although the numbers have dwindled. There was a school here of an enrollment of about 30-40 students at one time. Hopefully you'll find the Franklin County site helpful Does anyone have any info on this school? Thanks. Le'Royce
