Hello and Happy New Year to All, I am looking for Dyson slave owners in Franklin County. My GGGgrandfather McCoy (born 1834) was given to a Martha Dyson Robey of Iredell County, NC in 1836 as dictated by the will of her father Barton Dyson. Her brother William was given a slave named Jerry at this time as well. In 1840, William Dyson, his son Thomas and Thomas' wife Anna relocated to Franklin County, MO bringing McCoy with them. It is not clear whether Martha gave him to Anna, as she never shows up as an owner of slaves. It has been suggested to me that William Dyson is the key to bringing McCoy to Franklin County. I am curious as to whether or not Jerry Dyson was relocated at this time also. Any suggestions out there as to how/where I could track this information down. Thanks
