    1. [MOFRANKL-L] Franklin County Birth Records Posted!

    3. Dear List Subscribers, I'm sure county list subscribers will be happy to learn that early Franklin County birth records have been transcribed and are posted. This volunteer task was performed by Alise Streutker who lives in The Netherlands and to whom I am personally grateful. With the internet, distance is no barrier to volunteering and there is much to be done. If anyone would like to volunteer to help with preserving information, let me know. There are jobs available, large or small, ongoing or one time, something for everyone (wouldn't that be great). <http://mosl.sos.state.mo.us/rec-man/archives/resources/bdrecords/franklin4 2215.pdf> I will be adding this link to the Franklin County Links site today. Also, I put the GenConnect link for posting queries on my site when I overhauled it recently, but somehow neglected to put the links for the other GenConnect features. I will try to get these added back in today. They were not omitted intentionally, although I personally encourage people to use Joe Miller's state archives site for postings other than queries. The GenConnect Boards do not show every posting, just time-era programmed (by a year, a month, etc.), are not as easily posted as the archives, do not have a search engine like the archives, and are not permanent like the archives. Plus, obituaries posted at the archives are read over for obvious errors before they are posted. The thing that is particularly frustrating to me is the duplication. To find all of the obituaries for Franklin County, you would have to check those posted on the Franklin County Discussion List, the ones posted on GenConnect Boards and the ones posted at the state archives. I would really like to see this reduced to ONE place but am not sure how to go about it. If you are not familiar with the archives postings, check them out at <http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/mo/franklin/franklin.htm> You will find biographies, cemeteries, legal, obituaries, and wills. Joe Miller is the Missouri Archive File Manager for USGenWeb email: <mio@netins.net> Contact him if you have something to post in the archives. Let me know how you feel about this.
