Hi, I have recently been added to this list. Hoping to find information on my GG Grandfather, Alexander Gregory. I do know that he was born in Kentucky in 1823, he married Mary Jane McAllister in 1854, died in 1883-Cross Timbers, Hickory County, but retuned to Franklin County for burial in the McAllister cemtery. I wuld like any information on him at all..Thanks so much... Phyllis
I am seeking a look up for birth records for my great great aunt Emmaline (Emma) J. Lyons born March 24th, 1872 according her certificate of death. Though, in the 1880, 1900, 1910 and 1920 census her birth year was 1873 and said she was born in Kansas or Missouri. Her parents were Alfred C. Lyons and Harriett (Hattie) Lyons. Alfred came from Ohio. Any information would be greatly appreciated! -Michael Lyons LyonsPride01@aol.com
Sue, your e-mail about the Indian Prairie School renovation by the Franklin County Historical Society made me think of something different. Good luck on the project, btw -- I hope it is a success. The Jenny family homestead overlooked the Bourbeuse River south of Leslie. There was a log structure next to the road, at the top of the hill, at least through 1963, when my great-uncle Fritz Jenny passed away. My family went to the funeral. Some people in our family called it a log cabin, and others called it a barn. It might have been both, depending on the era. It was either two stories or it had a loft, and, if it was not lived in, it was probably used for blacksmithing and other farm activities. The structure is no longer there. One story is that a historical society came along and bought it, hauled it off, rebuilt it and is using it in some historical presentation. Does this ring a bell with anyone? I have no idea if it's the Franklin County group, or another group, or has no basis in fact. Any suggestions? Thanks! Best, Walter Jenny Jr. Edmond OK
Dear Listers, The Franklin County Historical Society is in the process of setting up a long term lease with the Indian Prairie Farm Club for possession of the Indian Prairie rural school. This school looks very much like it did the last day classes were held, complete with slate chalkboards, desks, and even a large picture of George Washington to inspire success. I am in the process of creating a list of students and teachers. If you have any information to contribute, please contact me. If you would like to contribute financially to this project, send your checks to the Franklin County Historical Society, P. O. Box 293, Union, MO 63084, notated that the money is for the Indian Prairie School renovation. Check out the student list and photographs at: <http://www.rootsweb.com/~mofrankl/IndPrSch.html> Should you find any broken links at this website, please let me know. I've done a lot of revamping of the site during the past month and there are probably a few bugs remaining. Also, I'm still asking for additional family websites to link to. If you have created a website for your family genealogy that includes Franklin County ancestors, please let me know. Also, let me know if you run across family sites in your research so I can write for permission to link. Thanks, Sue Cooley Franklin County Coordinator Missouri USGenWeb Project

I got a mail from the lister that was sending me the virus. If you sent an email to the list, you got one too. She had the badtrans virus. It sends automatically to unreplied mail in your box. After sending my last correspondence I got a message every time I sent one to the list. She assures me it is over. Some of the attachments I got were insulting and I mistook it to be deliberate from her, my apology. So Janet welcome back and please do not reply to this message, I am testing to see if all is well. This morning I received an email in reply to a message I sent out over the Crawford County mailing list in reply to people getting blank messages from the mailing list. I got a virus sent from <mbolive@mylink.net> in reply to my message with an attachment named "read.txt.pif". There was a message in italics that said OPEN THE ATTACHMENT. I also got another message in reply to an answer I gave about marriages I sent out over the Franklin County mailing list. I then got another message from the same address with a file attached with a file name like "sex.txt.pif" or something to that effect. I answered her directly and CC'd the mailing list. Apparently the list never sent the original address along with that. Sorry for any confusion. But is you get an attachment with two extensions, the second one is the virus. Check your recycle bin for any files that shouldn't be there. The virus usually has it's own PPP so you won't know it is sending. -- Joe L. I have seen some marriage records in small orange books at the MidContinent Library, but I cannot say Franklin County was included. I have the Missouri Marriages before 1840 and Gasconade County 1822-1850. Brian J. Oster has done some transcribing and may have more in store. http://vienici.com/abmomarr.html -- Joe L. In case anyone is interested....at Route 66 State Park today, they are having a 75th Anniversary Celebration (Times Beach). I'm not sure of the times, but the park itself normally opens at 10:00. My neighbor says she is working there at 11:00, so I know that they are open then. Just wanted to pass it along! Michelle muesic@msn.com http://muesicmo.tripod.com

I have been meaning to write and tell the list that we finally were able to make our trip from Texas to Franklin Co. this fall. Unfortunately, it fell during the Attack on America. However, our trip to the Washington Historical Library and Museum was a welcome relief from all the turmoil. Izzy was wonderful and so helpful. We were so impressed with the material there and found much to help us with our research. We went out to Neier and visited St. Joseph's church. The lady there helped us find Ferdinand Altemueller's grave and copied us the material from their journals. The ladies in the courthouse and library in Union were helpful. We found both marriage and probate records for Altemuellers and Bentmanns. Everyone was so nice to us. And by the way, the sheriff that we met in the courthouse recommended the Mexican restaurant in Union and it was as good TexMex as we find here in the Austin area. Doris Jablonski
