    3. In front of Union High School is a wrought iron fence that surrounds a few graves. There is only two headstones and two footstones. I could not make out the one headstone, but I believe someone with better eyesight might be able to do so. The large headstone is inscribed: Hier ruhl Elizabeth Faas Gest. August 10, 1882 im Alter V?N 59 Jahren This grave has one of the two footstones--E. F. At the opposite end of the enclosed area from the above headstone is a footstone and looks to be possibly 3 more graves. I do not know if anyone has posted these, so I thought I would just in case. 2. Don Collins
    3. Seeking any information about the family or descendents of William C Dixon (Dickson). He and his family appear in the 1850 census of Jefferson Co. District 42. I have not been able to locate his family in the 1860 census, but believe them to be in Franklin Co. William is listed as a Physician, with the following members in the 1850 census: wife Martha J., sons Benjamin D., Hannibal, and Francis M., daughter Elizabeth A. Benjamin is recorded to have married Eugenia B Martin 27 Feb, 1865 in St. Louis. Hannibal is married to Emily Rhidas July 9 1868, and Francis M is married to Alice Martin Sept 8th 1867, both of the later in Franklin Co. William dies in the prison at Alton IL Dec. 17, 1864, he is listed as Citizen of Franklin Co. MO. He is a brother of my great grandfather, and any information regarding him or his family would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Don Collins doncol@pflash.com

    2. Bratsveen Leroyce E GS-05 67SOS/CCS
    3. Hello and Happy New Year to All, I am looking for Dyson slave owners in Franklin County. My GGGgrandfather McCoy (born 1834) was given to a Martha Dyson Robey of Iredell County, NC in 1836 as dictated by the will of her father Barton Dyson. Her brother William was given a slave named Jerry at this time as well. In 1840, William Dyson, his son Thomas and Thomas' wife Anna relocated to Franklin County, MO bringing McCoy with them. It is not clear whether Martha gave him to Anna, as she never shows up as an owner of slaves. It has been suggested to me that William Dyson is the key to bringing McCoy to Franklin County. I am curious as to whether or not Jerry Dyson was relocated at this time also. Any suggestions out there as to how/where I could track this information down. Thanks

    1. Re: [MOFRANKL-L] Kinnamon family in Beaufort area - Long!
    2. Hi Sue, Thank you for checking the cemetery books. It is greatly appreciated. And another thank you to your listmembers, several of which have already replied with assistance. I was trying to look thru the 1910 census images at Ancestry for Beaufort and while I can see from the map on your site that Lyons Twp is there, Ancestry doesn't list it. Was it listed as a different township in 1910 or am I going to have to search thru the entire county because Ancestry didn't index it correctly? Let me give you a little more background on what I am trying to piece together in this area. This trail leads me from Pike Co IL to Gasconade Co MO and finally on to Franklin Co MO. Note: I will be sending this thru the Gasconade Co list too so I apologize if you get two copies of this timeline. Miles E. Sellers and Mary J. Kinnamon married in Pike Co IL in 1869. Anna Lucretia Sellers was born in Hermann?, Gasconade Co MO in 1877. I found the Kinnamon household on the 1850, 1860 & 1870 census in Canaan Twp, Gasconade, MO though none of them include Mary J. and I have yet to determine who her parents and other relatives are. Miles and Mary (Kinnamon) Sellers (who I cannot find on any 1870 census yet) thru oral history from Anna to my grandfather are said to have died around 1880 from an epidemic or disease and Anna was sent back to Pike Co to be raised by her Sellers relatives. 1880 census for Canaan, Gasconade Co finds no Kinnamon or Sellers family - only Anna Cellers, age 3 in the Sawer household with relationship noted as "Ward" 1880 census for Martinsburg, Pike Co, IL finds Miles Sellers living in the household with his mother (age 50+) and brothers (all in their late 20's) however the questionable part on his entry is that he is the last name entered in the household, and the census taker placed a line thru his name and other information noted for him on the census in an attempt to erase him from the household. He is listed as married (not widowed) and under the heading of "Illness" there is a notation for Miles however due to the attempt to remove his information it is unreadable. By 1900 Anna Sellers is back in Pike Co IL and married to a Saxbury. February 17, 1915 Anna (Sellers) Saxbury in New Canton, Pike Co, IL is sent a picture postcard from G. E. & J. H. Kinnamon (both males and they look to be over 50 in age) from Beaufort, Franklin, MO. In looking at the various maps I can see that Beaufort is only a little ways east of Cannan Twp in Gasconade Co and I am now trying to find the connections. My questions are: Who were these Kinnamons in 1850, 1860 & 1870 in Canaan? What happened to them between 1870 and 1880 that they are no longer in Canaan? Were Miles & Mary (Kinnamon) Sellers living with them between 1870 and 1880? If Anna's parents died before 1880 did the other Kinnamon's meet the same demise? If so, would that by why she is found in an unrelated household? Was there an epidemic in the area of Gasconade/Franklin Co in 1880? Why would Miles Sellers be back in Pike Co in 1880 with his family and his daughter Anna still be in Gasconade Co as a "Ward"? Since Miles Sellers name was crossed out in the Pike Co 1880 census was he really back in Pike Co at all? Where is Mary (Kinnamon) Sellers in 1880? Who are the Kinnamon's in Beaufort, MO in 1915 that must be related in some way to Anna Sellers thru her mother Mary J. Kinnamon? Any additional thoughts, suggestions of items to search, etc., would be greatly appreciated. Have a wonderful day! 2. SCooley
    3. Beaufort is in Lyon Township. There is a township map on the Franklin County website at <http://www.rootsweb.com/~mofrankl/index.html> I checked my Lyon township cemetery book and found no one with this surname. This listing includes all of the cemeteries that the cemetery committee was aware of at the time of publication but might be missing a few smaller family cemeteries. Also, stones could have been damaged or destroyed, or there might never have been one. I'm sorry I don't have better news for you. Sue Cooley Franklin County Coordinator Missouri USGenWeb Project

    3. Boonville is in Cooper County. New Franklin is a small town just across the Missouri River from Boonville but in adjoining Howard County. There used to be a small town near New Franklin referred to as Old Franklin. I'm not sure if it still exists, or which county it was in. It's confusing when so many of the towns in Missouri aren't in the counties of the same name. There is also a small town named Linn that is in Osage County, nowhere near Linn County. Hope this helps, Rob. Rob. Taylor Columbia, (Boone County) MO
