I personally have no burials or family in the Hornersville area (that I know of at this time), but thought the list might be interested in knowing that someone does care about the pioneers and ancestors of the Hornersville area. In the Wednesday, 14 June 2006, issue of the Daily Dunklin Democrat, there is an article on an upcoming fish fry that is being held in Hornersville for the annual maintenance of 4 cemeteries within the community's city limits. For those who desire to donate to the association may do so by sending a check or money order to: Hornersville Cemetery Association 303 Pecan Street Hornersville MO 63855 If you need further information, you should call: Pam Fouts (573)-737-2850 The cemeteries are Horner, Hornersville, Branum and Edmonston. The only active cemetery available for burials is Hornersville. A special note is the burial of Buster Brown in Hornersville. The 4 cemeteries have representatives on a combined cemetery association board. Secretary Pam Fouts is quoted as saying "Someone has to take responsibility to make sure the resting place for so many of our ancestors and relatives is taken care of, but it is very hard with little or no annual income." The association is to be commended for their concern and respect shown to all the cemeteries in Hornersville, but more so towards the 3 cemeteries which no longer accept burials. For those on this list who live in or have relatives still living in the Hornersville area please make a special effort to say thank you to the board members for their time in overseeing these cemeteries. It's not everyday when you see several individuals work together for the betterment of their community when it comes to the community's cemeteries.
