    3. While working on a special project, I have come across between 20 and 30 listings in the MO Death Index 1910-1955 which were indexed as Dunklin Co MO deaths but the certicates showed the death in another county (mostly at the state hospital in Fulton, Callaway, MO). Knowing that these misindexed certificates may prevent someone from finding a relative, I sent a list which consisted of the person's name as shown in the index, the death county and the certificate number to the Archives Reference email address given on the opening page of the index. I received a reply saying that the index will be corrected, however, the reply also noted that the Archives used a paper index which was produced by the MO Bureau of Vital Statistics. So please don't blame the Archives as they trusted the BVS. In closing, don't disregard a death certificate which shows the death in another county - look at it. If you find that it's been misindexed, please forward the information to the Archives Reference area and help others as you would want them to do in return.
