If there is then Mary Ann and her brothers are all part not full. Mary Ann's father William was supposedly born in SC and her mother Martha in GA. Somehow they got together by one family moving or both and met someplace. The kids were all born in AL. From what I recollect from researching the Cherokee nation I don't think any moved to AL. Also I don't think the Trail of Tears even went into AL on one of its four routes. From what I remember I thought the Cherokee came out of NC into TN then to KY/MO/AR on its four routes and finally ended up in OK. In conclusion, I'd be very skeptical about the Indian heritage as if she was of Indian ancestry she would have been offered land between 1900 and 1910 and I'm sure that if she had turned it down it would have been a story passed down through the Pennington family.
