I think they logged down there. I don't know for sure why she moved away from relatives. My grandfather, Zenas, left his family several times and the last time was when they were in Okla City, Okla. My grandmother had help moving back to SE Missouri from the Cook's. Then Zenas was in Nebraska and wanted Grandma to come there and the Cook's advised her not to. He was never heard from again. Several years ago, I found out, through social security, that he had drawn s/s in New Mexico. Wrote for a death cert., and lo and behold, got one. The person they got the information from on the death cert. had to know him, because it gave his mom and dad's name. So I started making phone calls and located her. Found out that he had remarried again. His wife left him with 3 children. He gave the children to someone in the town they lived in to raise. I talked to two of his daughters. One was very nice, the other didn't want to talk to me, think she thought I was after her money or something. They didn't know where their brother was, he had been in the navy, and di! dn't want to know. She said he might want her to take care of him. Makes me wonder about some of those Cook men and what they were like. I have a picture of Great Grandma Jane. I don't know if there are anymore Cook's living in Cardwell, Mo. anymore. Most of them have moved away. My sister and I visited a Cook that lived in Colt, Ark. and some of the Cook relatives were there. They were very easy to talk to, but we haven't, and they didn't seem inclined to, kept in touch. The Vernon Cook, from Colt, has lost his wife and I don't know if he still lives there are not. They didn't have any children. Maybe we can pool some of our knowledge together and come up with more information about them. I grew up in SE Mo. But we didn't visit the Cook's much after I was the age that I would remember. My older sister remembers there going down to Cardwell. I have a picture of a white building that is called the Cook Hotel. A cousin gave it to me, but have no idea where the Cook Hotel was located.
