Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/lMB.2ACI/306.1375.1455.1.2.4 Message Board Post: By Vernon L. Cude Beginning in the late 1830’s the Cude family started moving into the area of north east AR. Three Brothers (Timothy, John and James) and a couple of sisters are in the area by 1860 and are joined by their nephew John Horner Cude. There were so many of them That many of the people of this area probably have a Cude in their family tree. Randolph officially came into existence as a separate county in the Arkansas Territory. Arkansas was admitted to statehood in 1836 Many of our men died in the Civil war so the children were often moved in with relatives. James Cude Born about 1813 in Hickman. Co. Tenn. Was my Great Great Grandfather. The son of John Horner Cude who was born in Randolph, Co. NC about 1774. John Horner Cude married three times, so his wife in 1812 is in some question, but it appears to be Catherine Horner Sex: F Birth: ABT 1789 in Hawkins! Married: 1812?--This was not John’s first marriage. The fact that James was in the middle of a large family is well documented. John is listed with small children in the 1830 census. According to James oldest brother Horner Cude 1794, (Spouse: Temperance Lomax) the Cude’s moved into middle Tennessee (Hickman Co.) in about 1805 when Horner was 10 years old. James married Temperance Wilburn in about 1838, she was born about 1820 in Perry, Co. Tenn. The daughter of Byrell Wilburn (Wilburn and Wilborn may be the same family?) and Mary Lomax (Mary Lomax and Temperance Lomax may have been sisters?) and by the 1840 census he owned his own farm in Hickman, Co.
