I did get to the area last year and there are only a few dwellings there now. One would never know there had been a town there. The cemetery is close by (Oak Grove) and I found my ancestors there and more. Good luck with your research.
Does anyone know about the maintenance of McGrew Cemetery - is there an association/individual responsible for the upkeep/mowing...?

Cathy There is an article on part of the Ruben and Mary Lane Edwards family in the 1982 Campbell Area History book. If you'd like I can retype it and send it to you. Ruben and Mary were James William Edwards grandparents. Plus I can give you some additional information on the families of a few of James William's siblings. You might try Landess Funeral Home in Campbell, Mo at (573) 246-2596. My grandmother said that it was pretty much the only funeral home around at that time. Hope this helps.

In hopes of finding my family. One thing I have notice is there is no set funeral home, Some certificates where undertaker list listed has "family" or like Joe Brown, some I have seen the listed undertaker was really the grandfather and some of the places listed where a person was buried is like" Phillips farm, family farm, even back yard. . I will try to watch and see if there is a curtian undertaker that was used more for Bethany, for you. I can tell you if you are looking in the death certificates, try different spelling of the name. If you have not or do not know the death certificates are on line email me and I will send you a link . Good Luck Jennie
