    1. [MODunklin] Interesting post about Victorian Era and burials...
    2. This post was on my Orange County, NC list: The Victorians had a fear of being buried alive because death was not always easy to determine.  Thus the Victorians often had graves equipped with a bell above ground, the clapper attached to a string or wire that went into the casket below ground and attached to a finger of the deceased.  The idea was that if the deceased happened to awake, he could pull the wire and ring the bell.  I think I read that for about a week after burial, someone was stationed at the grave to listen for the bell. Has anyone actually seen one of these bells above ground in an old cementery?

    1. [MODunklin] Morris, Marrs
    2. I am looking for the family of Hezekiah "David" and Atelia (Thornhill) Morris, probably of Stoddard or Dunklin Counties, during the 1870-1890 censuses. Their daughter, Margaret (Maggie) married Thomas J. Marrs in Dunklin Co, Dec. 1889. Also, would like information about the Marrs family in this area. (Saw something about an A.W. Marrs who died in Stoddard Co. around 1888 or so. Anything to indicate a relationship to Thomas J.?) thank you- Marilyn Current

    3. Go to: www.familysearch.org There are four McFarland families listed here. Wiley & Martha is one of them. They are in the Campbell area. When the page comes up, click on 1880 census on the left. Fill in form. Only put in the last name. This was probably just before Roxie was born. Good luck, Lloyd C. (Michigan) This is only good for the 1880 census. Please respond directly to her (email follows her sign-off). Thank you. Debbi Geer Hello, My sister and brother are both buried in one of the cemeteries in or around Cardwell, Missouri.
