Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/lMB.2ACI/1994.1.1 Message Board Post: Thank you so much for the answer. My problen is my grandfather Gus Morris died in 1920 but when no one knows. I went to the cemetery (Cardwell ) but he had no stone. His mother Rachel Chery Morris also died around 1917 and his sister Mary Morris Pollard . I have no dates for them. Mary Morris Pollard's husband Lee Pollard remarried in 1914 so I assume she died in 1913. My father's uncle Charles Henry Morris told my mother that His mom died when he was about 18 . He was born in 1899. So agan I assume Rache Cherry Morris died in 1917. My father siad his dad died when he was about 2 so I thought he died in 1919 but my grandfather Gus Morris is alive in the 1920 census and Uncle Charlie is living when him. In Cardwell Mo Buffalo township. Thanks for your help. I think it is so nice when someone takes the time to annswer a question for some one. Jennie

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/lMB.2ACI/1993 Message Board Post: I got my Baker info together a little better, so thought I'd try this again. I’m looking for ANY information on the following Baker family. My direct ancestors are the ones with the asterix in front of their names. *George Baker b: abt. 1813 in TN d: btwn 1850-1870 M: Sarah (last name unknown) b: abt. 1824 in TN On the 1850 Census George was living in Castor Township, Stoddard County, Missouri. Based on his children’s ages and birth places, it assume he moved to Stoddard County between 1845 and 1848. Don’t know where in Tennessee he came from. Their children were: *Michael Baker b: abt. 1842 in TN M: Louis (last name unknown) b: abt. 1846 in MO Jane Baker b: abt. 1843 in TN John Baker b: abt. 1845 in TN M: Feb. 16, 1896(I’m not sure but I think this is John’s wife, but not his first) Malinda Jackson Henry Baker b: abt. 1848 in MO Mary Baker b: abt. 1859 in MO Michael Baker and Louisa – The 1870 Census shows them living in Castor Township, Stoddard County, Missouri. They moved around somewhat, living variously in Stoddard County and Clay County, Arkansas. They may also have lived in Dunklin County, Missouri at some point, but have yet to verify this. Their children: Andrew Baker (birth info unknown) John Baker (birth info unknown) Van Baker (birth info unknown, but he lived in Clay County, Arkansas for at least part of his adulthood) Molly Baker (birth info unknown) William Riley Baker b: Jan. 1867 in Arkansas (I believe in Clay County) M: Nov. 11, 1896 in Clay County to Maud Mallard b: Jan. 1875 in TN (no known children for William and Maud) *George Talbert Baker b: Jun. 21, 1869 in Stoddard County, MO d: 1950 in Dunklin Co., MO M: (1st wife) Desdemona Abigail Underwood b: Aug. 2, 1865 d: Dec. 2, 1915 in Clay County, Arkansas M: (2nd wife) Dora Louisa Freeman (nee Baker) b: Dec. 27, 1870 in Greene Co., AR d: Jun. 6, 1944 in Dunklin Co., MO Note on George’s 2nd wife: Dora’s maiden name was Baker, also. This Baker line is related to me, as well, but the two different Baker lines don’t seem to be connected. Her father was John W. Baker and her mother was Frances Pollard. Dora’s first husband was Francis Marion Freeman, whose family lived mostly in Clay County, Arkansas. Their children: Taylor Baker b: Dec. 14, 1890 *Joseph “Jody” Allen Baker b: Mar. 16, 1896 in Missouri and died in 1987 in Campbell, Dunklin Co., Missouri A lot of names, I guess, but hopefully someone can shed some light on the earlier parts of this family. I can’t seem to make any progress on this line. As many as there were in that area, I figure there must be some cousins still around somewhere. Thanks for any help! Randall Baker Nashville, TN

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/lMB.2ACI/976.1432.1 Message Board Post: I discovered your reply to James Clark's message about the Butler-Dalton marriage in 1886, and wonder if you have other information about that Dalton family. Margaret F. Dalton (an older sister of my grandmother) was a daughter of Timothy Dalton and Mary Lannins (Davidson) Dalton. The family moved from Cape Girardeau Co. MO (1870 census) to Union Twp., Dunklin Co. MO, and before 1880 Timothy died, leaving Mary widowed with the children (1880 census). My grandmother said they later moved to Kennett MO, and later Mary died, leaving the children orphans. My grandmother (also named Mary, but always called Molly) went back to Cape Girardeau Co. to live with her uncle George W. Davidson's family (her mother's brother), and later married his son William H Davidson. I know nothing about what happened to my grandmother's siblings or where her parents are buried. Thanks for any information you might be able to give me. --Melvin Crane
