Posted on: Douglas County, Missouri Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/Douglas/11662 Surname: THOMPSON, WHITECOTTON, HUGHES, MOWERY, MOUREY, RIDDLE, NEWMAN ------------------------- Hello--please contact me directly at [email protected] I have quite a bit of info on this large extended family, census records from 1840 & 1850 Bradley Co TN to 1860 Carroll Co AR to 1870, 1880 Christian Co MO. My great grandmother Saloma Whitecotton b. 1852 Bradley Co TN was raised by James and Malvina Priscilla Mowery/Mourey, her aunt and uncle. Her sister Sophronia/Safrony Whitecotton was raised by Joseph and Jane Thompson, her grandparents. How and where did you find out that Joseph Thompson b. 1790 NC was married to a Whitecotton? Her name was definitely Jane; she shows up in every census record with Joseph until 1870. She must have died around the time of the Civil War--but where??? Do you know where old Joseph Thompson our gx3 grandfather is buried? He was no longer living with the Mowerys/Moureys by 1880 census. I am eager to share with you, this has been a difficult and interesting family to trace! Betty Tartas in WA state
