    1. ROLL CALL -- Towe, Robertson, Hull, Beard, Coffman, Filer, Goodman, Wo ods
    2. Basically, if you're family is located in the eastern half of Douglas County, we're probably kin! FAMILY LINES 1) Charley Walter TOW(E) and Lydia Anna ROBERTSON migrated from Carroll County, VA to Olathe (Clay Township) about 1894. My grandparents still live on the farm there. 11 children lived to adulthood. These are my great-great-grandparents and are buried at Fairview Cemetery in Clay Township. Lyida's brother and sister also migrated here, and were married to TYSONs. 2) Daniel E. HULL and Mary A.E. BEARD migrated from Augusta County, VA in 1853-54. They lived on 1,000 acres south of Mountain Grove until war broke out, and moved north to Dent County for protection. Daniel died there. Mary is buried at the Old Swedish Cemetery in Mountain Grove. Their son, Newton A. HULL, lived in Douglas County for over 20 years and is buried at Denlow wit his third wife, Nancy Virginia COFFMAN WOODY. These are my great-great-grandparents. Nancy's parents were William COFFMAN (buried at Oak Grove Cemetery in Wright County) and his first wife, Susannah PRESLEY. 3) Jacob FILER and Sarah SMITH arrived here before 1900 and lived near Oak Forest in Clay Township. Their daughter Emma married John Dawson WOODS, son of John Sevier WOODS and Louisa Jane SLUDER. Doss, Emma, Jacob and Sarah are all buried at Oak Forest Cemetery in Clay Township. John and Louisa are buried at Denlow. Doss and Emma are my great, great, great-grandparents. 4) John Henry GOODMAN and Rosa WOODS were both born in Douglas County and lived here all their lived. Rosa is the daughter of the afore-mentioned Doss and Emma (FILER) WOODS, and John was the son of James Pleasanton "Pleas" GOODMAN and Elizabeth RILEY. John and Rosa were my great-great-grandparents and are buried at Oak Forest. NOTE: I don't know which of the RILEY lines Elizabeth descends from, so I'd LOVE to hear anything on this. HISTORICAL RESEARCH 1) I'm compiling a listing of all persons buried at Oak Forest and Fairview Cemeteries, located in Clay Township. If I can figure out exactly how to make it look like I want, I'll be posting it to the web, and keeping them updated. My notes include any genealogical information I have, regardless if the person is directly related to me. 2) I am trying to abstract the Norwood Index newspapers that were printed from 1927 to 1949. There's a lot of local columns in each each, and the typeface cannot be read by a scanner, so I am manually re-typing the information. This is a long-term project. 3) I am using the census images on ancestry.com to try and locate every Douglas County family in my database (which currently numbers nearly 31,000 individuals). I'm up to 1910. FAMILY ARCHIVING 1) I still have my great-grandmother's photographs to scan any burn to CD. I have managed to get most of them into archival-safe albums, and organized. 2) I'm going through Douglas County, Missouri: History and Families 1857-1995 and connecting several non-related lines. I'm up to the M's. In my spare time, I hold down a full-time job, so I don't get as much done as fast as I would like. I do make it up to Douglas County about every 2-3 months.
