I do not know the ins and outs of this family but I know that one of my grandmother, Alba Edison McNeill Peck's Aunt was married to an Ellis man. I do not have details but the children of that couple I remember being a Benny Ellis of near Pineville, Izard Co., AR. I am sure he has long ago died but I wonder if he may not have been connected to your lines? My families's connection would have been through the McNeill side and what I remember about this was utter confusion when I talked to my grandmother McNeill/Peck because the terms she used and the way she expected me to know everyone as well as she did really hurt me figuring what was going on.What I do not remember off the top of my head is whether the Ellis was married to a McNeill or whether it was to a Cantrell (which was the wife's maiden name in the McNeill bunch!)
