I am now researching the William L. Hartley/Eva Frances Pettit Hartley family. William is buried at Mt. Taber but I don't have burial dates/places for his family. They are as follows: Hartley, Eva Frances Pettit DOB: November 1873 DOD: Before April 1910 (when census was completed) Children are: Hartley, Bertha M. DOB: November 1895 Hartley, Dempsey R. DOB: August 1897 Hartley, Lizzie DOB; Abt. 1901 Hartley, Elsie DOB: Abt. 1905 Hartley, Clifford Maxie DOB: January 15, 1908 I don't have the DOD for any of the children. They may or may not be buried at Mt. Taber so any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Twila
Twila, my mother was Kiree Hartley Brown (b. 1911 - d. 1999). I have her Hartley records on computer. The sources for her records, however, are undocumented but are generally quite reliable. William L. was a brother to her dad, David Ira Hartley. So, William L. was Mom's Uncle. Mt. Tabor Cemetery is listed in Volume 2 of Pat Carmichael's DC Cemetery books. I checked it to see which members of William L.'s family were listed. As you'll see, I could only find William L. and Clifford Hartley plus a couple of his Turner grandchildren. I'd be real surprised if Dempsey isn't there too. It looks like he died young and quite possibly in that 1918 flu epidemic. Here's what I've come up with on William & Eva. HARTLEY, William L. DOB: 5 Mar 1875 DOD: 31 May 1922 (buried Mt. Tabor (Row 6) Douglas County, MO) Married Eva Frances Pettit on 17 Jan 1895. PETTIT, Eva Frances (daughter of G.W.D. Pettit) DOB: 19 Nov 1872 DOD: 25 Nov 1909 CHILDREN: Hartley, Bertha (married Oat Turner) DOB: 5 Nov 1895 DOD: ? Note: Two of Bertha's children -- May and Neva Turner -- are buried on Row 6 of Mt. Tabor Cemetery next to their Grandfather Hartley -- they both died young. Hartley, Dempsey (married Mary Alice Pettit) DOD: 9 Aug 1897 DOB: 12 Nov 1918 Hartley, Lizza (married J. Lady) DOB: 19 Jun 1901 DOD: ? Hartley, Elsa (married Virgle Lady) DOB: 20 May 1905 DOD: 11 Jun 1950 Hartley, Clifford DOB: 15 Jan 1908 DOD: 8 Mar 1925 (buried Mt. Tabor (Row 6) - Douglas County MO) Twila, I have an 1890s Hartley family photo that has William L., his parents and all his siblings. It may be on my family website -- I'll check and let you know. Otherwise, I'll be sure to get it to you some way.
