Thanks to Pat Teed from Texas for pointing out a very annoying problem that probably affects many of you - the Douglas County page is too wide for many computers, and one has to scroll from left to right and back to see all the contents. This takes a lot of fun out of viewing the site. I'm red-faced about this - I should have known. I've consulted with my 'techie son' plus some web design books, and I've found a solution for most everyone (but not all). I'll be working on those changes in the next few days, and please bear with me. Those who have WebTV and those with monitor display settings at a large type (e.g., 640x420) will still have to do some horizontal scrolling but not as much as right now. Those who have their displays set at 800x600 should see the site at its full width. Those displays set above 800x600 will see some blank space along the left and right edges. How do you know the display setting for your computer? Well, one way that works for MS Windows is as follows: click the START button, and select CONTROL PANEL. When in CONTROL PANEL, select DISPLAY. When in DISPLAY, click on the tab that says SETTINGS. On the SETTINGS window, look for a box that says "Screen Resolution." There you will see something like '800 x 600 pixels.' That is your display setting. If it is set at '640x420', consider changing it to '800 x 600 pixels.' It will make the print smaller which may or may not be acceptable to you. Remember that I take constructive critiques and suggestions very well -- let me hear from you. Thanks Pat, for the heads-up.
