Posted on: Douglas County, Mo Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/Douglas/1464 Surname: McIntosh, Riley ------------------------- I am trying to track the lineage of my gg-father, Miller McIntosh. I do not have a b-date for him but do know that he spent most of his life in Douglas County. He married Rosella Riley on 5/7/1885 and had five children between 1886 and 1897; Minnie (1886), Zack (1889), Pearl (1891), Ruth (1894), and Oscar (1897). Both he and Rosella died c.1900 of typhoid fever after drinking bad water from a new well. they are supposedly buried in Brushy Knob Cem.(about 12 miles east of Ava). I do believe that they family resided in the Brushy Knob area as three of the children were definitley born in Brushy Knob.

I do have more on Daniel; his father was James Thomas Collins b. 1848 and his mother was Harriet Collins b. 1849. They had 9 children. James Thomas Collins was the son of Daniel Collins b. 1825 and Susan Collins b. 1825. Harriet Collins was the dau of Franklin J. Collins and Rebecca Collins. I could go on and on here. The line goes back to David b. 1750 several ways. Tell me where you'd like to start first and we'll go that way, ok? Janet

    3. Posted on: Douglas County, Mo Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Mo/Douglas/1452 Surname: ------------------------- HENRY COBLE MEMORIAL To all descendants of Old HENRY COBLE, born 1763, died 1860 and is buried in Sinking Creek Cemetery, near Everton, Dade County Missouri. Old HENRY COBLE is the patriarch of most of the Coble families of Douglas and Ozark Counties, coming to Missouri in about 1840. He was quite prolific, rearing 7 sons with families extending to all parts of the nation. Having died in 1860, immediately preceding the Civil War, for reasons unknown, there is NO tombstone for our Grandfather of varying degrees. So, as the descendants HENRY COBLE lets all join together, pool our funds and set a tombstone to honor our common ancestor................ Janice M. Smith and myself (Jay Gentry), have committed ourselves in an attempt to secure pledges from the descendants of Henry Coble, for funds to set this monument. We are talking about an amount of approximately $1500 to $2000 for the stone. With the thousands of descendants of Henry Coble, this should not be an excessive burden for any of us, if we all join together in this endeavor. Janice and I have both pledged $100 each to start the fund. This is NOT a suggested amount...any amount...$5, $10, $20, $50...will be deeply appreciated. If for any reason, you should change your mind, your pledge is non binding, We would like to have as many involved in this as possible. If you feel as we do, that our “Grandfather’s” grave should be marked, send us a pledge...repeat...pledge only, at this time. If the necessary funds can be raised through these pledges, we will attend to the details of securing and setting of the monument. At that time the pledges will be called and the commemoration details will be announced, with an advance announcement in time for each of you to attend if you so desire. A dedication ceremony can be planned with everyone invited and your participation welcomed. If, for any reason, you are not able to attend, a photograph of the memorial can be provided. We are NOT asking for any contributions at this time...just a pledge. If we can raise the necessary funds, the monument will be set. Otherwise, our “Grandfather” will remain in an unmarked grave, known only to few researchers. Janice M. Smith, 281 Co Rd 3135, Houston AL 35572 >[email protected]< Jay Gentry, 1004 N Fredrick, Mtn Grove MO 65711 >[email protected]< P.S. Feel free to make copies of this letter and send to other “cousins”. It will be deeply appreciated.
