I have a connection to the McIntosh family. In my records I find a Moses McIntosh (7 years of age) and William McIntosh (14 years of age) on the 1870 Census living in the home of James McIntosh and Nancy Hicks McIntosh. Moses and William were not their children. I don't know why they were living or in that home at the time of the 1870 Census in Clay Township - Douglas Co., Mo. I can't help you help you with the parents. Wish I could. Pat Alsup Hardman

I don't know whether this may be helpful to you or not, or if you have already discovered this Dougherty in Howard Co., MO. If that is a possible location for the ancestors of your Delilah Dougherty, you may want to search the MOHOWARD-L Archives and read the messages concerning the Dougherty. A sister of my ggg gf Robert Harrison Brashear, married a Dougherty. Two of the Dougherty family researchers who frequent the MOHOWARD list gave me information about the family, where we had known practically nothing except a husband's name. If you haven't met these researcher yet, you might find something about your family in their lineage. Best success to you in finding connections that lead to facts! Beth Peck Cooper

Dear List, Below is a copy of an e-mail that was sent to me by Gloria Bogart Carter which I felt I should pass along to you. Please support Gloria in her efforts to keep her genealogy column in the newspaper. Debbie Linton ------------------------------------------------ Dear Ozarks Genealogical Society Members [email protected] As most of you noticed, The GENEALOGY Column was left out of the Sunday Paper, 22 April 2001. I called to see WHY. I spoke with Kate Wood to whom I turn in my queries, she put me thru to Jean Thompson who is in charge of the Dept. I was told they are thinking of taking it out of the newspaper, and putting it on-line on their web site. Which would be nice---but I think there are many who read the Genealogy in the Sunday paper who are not and do not intend to be on-line. If you feel you would like to see the GENEALOGY column in the Sunday newspaper, I would appreciate if you would send them an e-mail to Kate Wood [email protected] or call 836-1199 ask for Jean Thompson. Ms. Thompson said if they got enough calls etc, to let them know how many read GENEALOY, it would help in their decision. I have had to stand up for the column before, they do not realize how many people read GENEALOGY. As they say-a minority. I thank you for your support of the GENEALOGY column in the News-Leader. Let's keep it there---they could also put it on line for the people away from here and those who prefer to see it on-line. Sincerely, GLORIA BOGART CARTER 733 SOUTH FARM ROAD 89 SPRINGFIELD MO 65802-9525 PHONE 417-869-7060 E-MAIL [email protected]

MO, married Delpha Miller. You mentioned some people to contact and since then we have connected to family in Mo that we never even knew of before. THANK YOU AGAIN!!!! Jennifer, I'm sorry I am just now reading this and had to ask were your Baker connected to the Alexander, the Maxey or the Brashear families in Douglas, Ozark, Howell or Oregon Cos., MO. I'm trying to find an Elsie Maxey (d/o Dave and Mary Alexander Maxey) m. Oscar Hicks (I think but am not sure of the name) and lived in Tulsa area, probably Sand Springs back in the 1950's. I believe that a Baker family that lived in Douglas, Ozark, Howell or Oregon Cos., MO was related either to the Alexander or the Maxey and were related to the Brashear and Hicks families that my grandmother and Elsie married into but I have no given names of the Bakers (and no one left alive to tell me who they were connected to) So please let me know if you know of any connections to your Bakers with these families however remote! Any information might be valuable-----Thanks! Beth Peck Cooper P.S. I almost forgot to tell you there is a lady, Peggy King of Tulsa who frequents the [email protected] who has a ton of information on Findley families who were in AR (and MO, I think!) Anyway, if you have not found all of you Findley family yet or want to touch base with someone who knows a lot about that family, I would suggest you search the [email protected] -----list archive for the Findley name and you are sure to find Peggy King. I'm sure that if you haven't already talked to her, she would love to hear from you about the Findley families!
