I am making a desperate attempt to locate information on a great aunt Louiza (Liza) J. Gates. She was the daughter of Michael C. Gates and Piercy Prevett Gates of Randolph Co AR (Formerly of Lawrence Co and other counties in southern MO). Liza, also shown as Eliza in some records was born in Randolph Co AR Nov 1879. She appeared in the 1880 and 1900 Randolph Federal census records. By 1901 she seems to have disappeared from the area and her family. No marriage record so far, no burial site so far. She is not listed in the probate records for her father and grandfather who died in 1911 and 1912, not even as deceased. I would be most grateful for ANY help with her. It bothers me that she seems to have disappeared and no one remembers her. In order to keep this short I will not list all the places I have looked. But I am hoping against hope that she may turn up on a marrige index that I overlooked in one of the counties. I apologize for duplicate queries you may get...but my Gates lines were in all these counties at one time or another. Thanking you in advace and praying for a clue. I will see if I have the cemetery name written down of where my gg gp are! This possibly could be my gg gp if it is the right cemetery. Would you recall whether there may be a Carl Johnson and wife Martha nearby? Carl would be their son. Then, there is also one of their daughters buried there who would have died in childbirth with her first child. I'll have to look up her married name but I did get a rubbing of her tombstone so I am certain that they are all in the same cemetery. I will check tonight and get back about this to you! Thanks so much for posting this! And wonderful that you are taking the time to do such worthy research for all of us! Thanks! Beth Peck Cooper
Hi list! I hope that I am remembering the right list, was there someone here tracking a Zadock Phillips? Could he have possibly been the son of William B. Phillips? Please get back to me if you are still looking-----as I have just found a Zadock Phillips whose father William B. Phillips appears to have moved to Douglas Co., MO after having lived in Fulton Co., AR---grieving the loss of his wife in Fulton Co., AR. The verbage I stumbled upon can be read at: ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ar/fulton/goodspee/fulton2.txt If that doesn't work go directly to Rootsweb.com, then access the Counties/States, select AR, then select Fulton Co., then go to their links and find their easily accessible GenWeb and look for Goodspeed's history, select the second (2nd) text, then just scroll through to find William B. Phillips. You will find the note about his location in Douglas County, MO after living in Fulton Co., AR and also the mention of his son Zadock Phillips. Hope this helps! and hope I remembered the correct list!!! Please let me know! Beth Peck Cooper

List, Hi! I need your assistance about identification of the Smith family that Lucille Smith that married Charley V. Johnson about 1905 or so in Douglas Co., MO, was part of! Would anyone happen to know who her parents were? I have a photograph from my Grandmother's (Mabel T. Johnson Wadkins) things that is: Charley V. Johnson, Lucille's Mother (or Granny Smith), Lucille Smith Johnson, then Charley and Lucille's two daughters, Velma and Naomi (both adults) and then what maybe a teenage girl and a slightly younger boy (who we presume to be one of the daughers or both of the daughters's children). From the clothing in the photograph I think that the time may be late 1930s or early 1940s. The family group is standing and the children are sitting on the sidewalk in front of what I believe to be Charley and Lucille's residence in Oakland, CA. We don't have a whole lot of information about this branch of the family but I believe that I have already found Charley V. and Lucille Smith's marriage record in Douglas Co., MO shortly after the turn of the century (while my g grandparents, John A. Johnson were married there in 1900). I do not know when Charley and family moved to CA but none of his siblings followed him there so I would suspect that he had family connections of the Smiths or friends who were able to connect him with construction work on bridges in CA. We were always told that was what he worked at when they moved to CA. Would there be anyone reading this that knows anything about this family? Any morsel of information could be important to us since we know so little within our branches that are researching! Any information would be appreciated. Thanks so much! Beth Peck Cooper
