Surnames: Nickles Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/FKB.2ACE/363.1.2 Message Board Post: A very close friend died 14 June 2000 named Robert Eugene Nickles; and is buried next to his Father, Eugene Cecil Nickles, at the Salem Cemetery, Salem Mo. His Dads' side was in Salem, Dent Co, and I believe Eugenes' Mom was Allie Clouse/Claus (married a Sheehan later on). Allie died in a nursing home in Gillespie, ILL. in 1981. Granny Sheehan was living in St. Louis, Mo. (on St. Vincent St.) in 1965, in the same duplex as another family member named Dulcie (?) We visited Cleo Thilking, from Farmington MO, many times; she died Feb. 1990. This aunt was from his Moms' (Hall) side of the family. I went to many of their homes back in the 1960's & met most of the family. (Bob & I were engaged back then) In the 1980's Bob was at my families' cabin at Union, MO. for 8 years and he visited many relatives from Salem, MO, an uncle from Pacific, MO and the family farm outside of Salem. Both of us loved Missouri and we always spent time at Salem, seeing places his family lived. He was starting to trace his family but I don't have the family group sheets I started for him. Would like to chart the basic family history for his children, so they could have them. They didn't know Bob well, but his oldest daughter has children and am sure she'd like to know more about the Nickles side of the family. Bob was in the Navy in the 60's, and grew up at Gillespie, ILL. He lived many places over the years: Joliet, ILL; Dania Beach, Florida; Union, Mo: and Harrisburg, ILL. He died at the Vets' Med Center at Marion, ILL. Hope this will help others find a connection. I loved Bob for many years & sharing his family info is the last thing I can do for him... Chris
