    1. Re: Local Research
    2. Thanks everyone for all of the tips. Since I'm in Michigan, I won't be running down to the Missouri State Archives (and most of Michigan's State Archive resources are East of the Mississippi). But I suppose I'll have to write to them; perhaps they can find an entry for the death of Mary Minerva (Taubvine or Wilson) Welch or her obituary. I have her with her husband and children in all of the federal census records--I just need to know her maiden name. Keep up the good work . . .

    1. Re: Local Research
    2. Is there anyone in the Salem, Dent Co, Missouri area that's willing to check for death records for my ggreatgrandmother Mary Minerva Welch, wife of John William Welch? "Minerva" died Dec. 19, 1893 in Dent Co, MO, and she's buried at Miner Cemetery according to Vol.III of the Dent County, Missouri, Genealogical publications. Does anyone have access to death records at the Dent county courthouse and/or the microfilmed obituaries? The marriage records list her full name as Minerva Wilson but some family members say "Toadbine" (Toabvine/Taubvin) was her maiden name. Anyone have any ideas for other sources to check for this information? I'll gladly pay reasonable charges for this research. Thanks everyone. Dianne Jenkins Spitzer FamDigger@aol.com

    2. Good Afternoon, As you all may know, Rootsweb recently merged with Ancestry.com. Rootsweb had hosted the GenConnect boards which held the queries, bible records, deeds, obituaries, wills, etc. They recently changed the format of the boards which has made them very hard if not impossible for newcomers to use let alone people with internet experience. The big problem is that you can not change your email address without "signing up" or "registering" for their service. Therefore, I have added a brand new query page for the Dent County, Missouri site. If you have posted a query in the past and want to post to this new page, please feel free to do so. The queries will be handled just like they were when the USGenWeb project was first started. You will email me the query and I will post them manually to the page. The query page will be searchable through the search engine that is installed at the Dent County site. The old queries are still there and will be able to be viewed by anyone looking for information in Dent County. However if you have changed your email address, chances are you will not be able to make the change on the old pages and someone wanting to contact you may not be able to. With the new query page, you can email me with your new email address or with any changes you may want to make to your queries later on and I will be able to make the changes for you. I hope this clears up the problems people have been having with using the old query system. If you have any questions or comments, please let me know. The link to the new page is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~modent/queries2.htm Sorry for any inconvenience or confusion this may cause. 1. RILEY - 1883-1884 Register of Deaths or Permanent Record of Deaths
    2. Geraldine Miller
    3. I have been looking abt. 9 yrs. for when & where my ancestor Samuel RILEY died. The saying that never leave any stone unturned is haunting me. Of the many times I have been to Dent Co. I don't believe I looked at the Register of Deaths or Permanent Record of Deaths for the years 1883-1884. I know from experience in other counties that not all deaths were recorded. But...............my ancestor could be there. Samuel RILEY was 75 on the 1880 Dent Co. census. His wife remarried Dec. 1885. Does anyone have a copy of these deaths at home or.............will someone be going to the courthouse soon that I could ask a favor to check these books for me. I would gladly pay someone to check the courthouse for me. I know these records have been microfilmed & are at the Archives in Jefferson City also. Thanks. Geraldine
