Manuel who married Laura Griswold; she is believed to be of my line. This is what I have surmised and I would appreciate any input or further information greatly: 3) Laura Griswold born 1835 (some say about 1838) in New York; married first David A. Manuel born about 1826 in New York - married March 17, 1852 in McHenry County, Illinois. David A. Manuel received a Land Grant of 160 Acres on April 2, 1857 in Plattsburg, Daviess County, Missouri. David Manuel, and Laura Griswold, divorced. It appears as though David and Laura's children equally split between the parents. David married second Charlotte Brown born about 1856 in Massachusetts - married October 26, 1870 in Napa County, California. They had 3 children in 1872-1878 in California. Laura married second Henry S. Colburn born about 1822 in Maine. David A. Manuel is assumed to be a brother to George W. Manuel and Charles Albert Manuel. The Manuel's, and Griswold's came from New York, and George W. Manuel was in Daviess County, Missouri, in the early 1860s. George W. Manuel moved to California at about the same time as David A. Manuel, his alleged brother; George's wife Lucy Griswold is possibly a sister of Laura Griswold. Laura's brother Isaac H. Griswold is listed in the 1880 Census records for Seattle, King County, Washington as living with the Henry S. Colburn family. Henry was a carpenter. Laura and David had 5 children: 1. George Manuel born about 1855 in Illinois. 2. Elinor Manuel born about 1859 in Missouri. 3. David L. Manuel born about 1865 in California. 4. Louis M. Manuel born about 1865 in California. 5. Augustus Manuel born January 07, 1868 in California and died September 29, 1946 in Alameda County, California. Laura and Henry had 1 child: 6. Eineva Colburn born about 1876 in California. And Laura's sister Lucy may have married Charles' brother George W. Manuel: 8) Lucy C. Griswold born 1842 in New York. David A. Manuel who was married to Laura Griswold, sister to Lucy, is assumed to be a brother to George W. Manuel and Charles Albert Manuel. The Manuel's, and Griswold's came from New York, and George W. Manuel is mentioned since he was in Daviess County, Missouri, in the early 1860s. George W. Manuel moved to California at about the same time of David A. Manuel, his alleged brother; his wife Lucy Griswold is possibly a sister of Laura Griswold. George Manuel was born about 1835. If indeed he married this Lucy - they married April 12, 1861 in Daviess County, Missouri and had 2 children: May Manuel born about 1863 and Walter G. Manuel born about 1866. Laura and Lucy Griswold were children of: James Amos Griswold born November 03, 1804 in NY and Polly Robbins. James was the son of: Jabez Griswold born June 08, 1757 Probably Lansingburgh, Rensselaer County, New York & Mary 'Polly' Pruitt born January 19, 1765.
