To Lanita and Lois -- Thanks for your replies. Ancestry would have pulled up Paulina for Perlina. In fact it shows a whole bunch of Galpins for say, the 1870 census in Daviess County, but not her, Jasper, or the kids. My biggest problem though -- I can't find her OR the kids with Jasper at all, not in 1870 or any other time. Neither do I find Julia or Mary Jane with their supposed husbands (Jonathan Weston Pilcher and Pete Harlow), or by their married names, and don't find Elisa at all.
