    3. If some of you took pics of the all the stones of the cemetery you visited when you were in the area and wanted to donate a CD to the Society in order for the Society to sell to cut down on the wait time and availability for others, that would be WONDERFUL [you of course would get credit for the donation, and would be a natural recourse to get a CD of another cemetery in exchange]!! We will always want donations [family info and queries, newspaper clippings, Civil War info] from all members to help with the 'news' in the newsletter, but I was thinking about what we could sell as a Society to help with expenses if we kept the dues down to bare minimum. This would NOT be from the index that the DAR has done. The index does not contain all of the cemetery listings, not to mention any who died after t he 1970s. Although I am a member of the DAR and suspect that I might be able to get permission, I am thinking of taking actual PICTUES with digital cameras and putting them on the CD.. This would be an updated version of the cemetery. That way, there is not such thing as a copyright problems except to make copies of the actual CD for others, I guess and we would have DOCUMENTATION! So far, the paper cost, and copying and mailing expenses seem to be what will cost the most. Since I think the bulk of members will be from out of state, I'm just trying to think of what I would want available. Someone mentioned putting the pics online, and I know some are already there, but whole cemeteries are not there in pic form, and they are not updated. I also thought, [and I may be speaking out of turn here because whoever shows up may have other ideas,] about taking digital pics of the pages in the marriage books' indexes. Particularly those that are not already online. I'm just trying to figure out how to keep from the transcription errors that always seem to happen that seems to cause more confusion [and we all know how confused we all are anyway!! : > ) AND help the Society out] I also thought of perhaps, having a RESEARCHERS WEEK/WEEKEND where we would come together, have a greeting time, hit the courthouse and library, and have the cemetery or other area tours. I think we are all family here, whether we are connected or not, and we depend upon each other for our 'support' system. We all have family members who don't give a flying fig about our family history, much less our personal passions to find it, so we share on the List. It just seems to me that if we had an annual Genealogical Week where Researchers came together, we might finally have a chance to meet that one from afar who we have gotten to know via email... just another thought....
