    1. RE: TAYLOR from Daviess Co, MO
    2. Doris Forsyth
    3. Hi, It was interesting to read this message in the Daviess County mail list. Sarah Jane Taylor was my gr. grandmother. I have quite a bit of info on the Taylors, but there is some mystery regarding Sarah's birth parents--some info says her mother died when she was 3 days old and that her father died when she was 3 years old. At this time, I don't believe her father was the William involved in the murder of his father-in-law, but am not 100% sure of this. I never met Sarah Jane Taylor Reed (married my gr. grandfather, Orange Andrew Reed). I have exchanged info with several Taylor researchers and I believe that Nathan did end up in Oregon. I show her father to be William Taylor and her mother as Sarah Brewer I've never explored the Brewer line, and do know that the Taylors in Daviess County and other Missouri counties have been a tangled "mess". I have some messages regarding this, and will share later. I am very busy with a family reunion of my mother's (Starr) family members. It will be just cousins, as our last aunt died in April--that was the reason we felt we should get together for some reason other than funerals. I live in Nampa, Idaho. My father was born in Daviess County and so were my Reed grandparents. Doris Patti, Nathan Taylor is my husband's 2nd-gr-grandfather, through Nathan's son, Thomas. I also found his family in the 1850 Daviess Co., MO, census, and in the Oregon 1870 and 1880 census, but haven't found him in an 1860 census. Perhaps he was enroute to Oregon, on the Oregon Trail. Another Taylor descendant whom I am in contact with tells me that Nathan raised 4 nieces and nephews--Sarah, Charles, Alvin, and Martha. I wonder if they were children of James H. in 1850 census. I found several Taylors in the 1840 Daviess Co., MO, census also, but it's hard to tell if or how they might be related. There is a William Taylor age 20-30 with one male under 5, 1 male 20-30, 1 female 10-15, and 1 female 15-20. That William is the right age to be the William father of Nathan in 1850 census, but don't know. There are several Taylors in index of History of Daviess Co., MO. Have you seen that source or had a lookup done in it? I haven't, but it would be good to get it. Would ap! preciate hearing of any other progress you've made on this. ______________________________
