I have been doing this project for almost 3 years. I have found that my great-grandfather Henderson Wilburn was involved in a group of buswackers or guerillas during the Civil War. He was in a group with a Captain Joe Kirk and a Major William Peery that was killed during the war. The last known place that my great-grandfather was mentioned in Missouri was in 1862 in Livingston County, Missouri. In which he was involved in a skirmish with Federal troops. What I am wondering is how do I get a hold of a genealogical society in your area? How far back does your newspaper go in that area?
