    3. Lanita, Hi, Yes I do have information on William Merrill McCrary and his family. Some of it matches your info, but some of it doesn't. William was born on 22 Jun 1842. He died 2 Sept. 1917 and was buried on 3 Sept. 1917 in McCrary Cemetery. He was the son of William McCrary and Lucinda McAfee. He also was a twin to James Merit McCrary. William Merrill McCrary married to Nancy Ellen McBrayer on 22 April 1866 in Daviess Co., MO You'll find this marriage record in Book C, Page 135. Nancy Ellen McBrayer was born in Jul 1850 in Daviess Co. She died in 1928 and is also buried in McCrary Cem. Her parents are John Abel McBrayer and Elizabeth Wood. William and Nancy had four children. Two of them died in infancy and two lived to be adults. They are different from your list. 1. Lucinda Jane "Rinnie" McCrary born 8 May 1866 in Daviess Co., she died 28 Oct 1938 in Caldwell Co., and is buried on 30 Oct in the Highland Cemetery. in Hamilton, Caldwell Co. She was Christened in 1890 in the Baptist Church. She married on 11 Feb 1885 in Daviess Co., to John Oscar Bristow. He was born 21 Jan 1861 in Daviess Co. He is the son of Miles Bristow and Mary Ellen Loyd. 2. Elizabeth McCrary, born 1871 in Daviess Co. There is a marriage record that says she married Jonathan M Smith on 29 Dec 1899 in Daviess Co. However she was married to a Mr. Pendleton when her father, William Merrill died. I have no further info on them. 3. Sarah McCrary, born 1868 in Daviess Co., and died 1868. 4. Child's name is unknown to me. Born and died an infant. I have 2 Obits on William Merrill. One of them was in the Gallatin Democrat on Sept 6 1917. The second one was in the Hamilton Farmer's Advocate on Sept 6 1917. William Merrill McCray served in the Civil War in Co. A. 1st. Regiment, M.S.M. Calvary. I hope this info helps yoy. I am very happy to do so. 3. Happy to give you my sources on this family. I too have Wm M McCrary's death record. I read it as 1917. The handwriting is a mite on the bad side tho. His Civil War pension card says his wife is Nancy E and gives his death date as 1917 so that she could collect her widow's pension. I have the 1870 census that tells me they had two children at that time named Lorinda J and Sarah. The 1880 census was also in Sheridan Twp and tells me that they then had a daughter named Elizabeth, In the 1910 census they were still in Sheridan Twp. and were married 45 years. It also says they had 4 children and 2 were still living. I have two obit's on William Merrill McCrary that tells me his wife was Nancy Ellen and that they had 4 children. Two of them died as infants and 2 were still living. One of them was "Rina" Bristow and the other one was "Betty" Pendleton of St. Joseph, MO. I have never found the name of their 4th child. I have a death record for Betty Pendleton that says her husband's name was Ambrose Pendleton and she was a widow at that time. I also have two books that are full of information on the McCrary family, Wm. Merrill McCray is included in these books. These books are: "The Whitaker Family of Buncombe, North Carolina" by Bruce Whitaker. The other book is written by Brenda Givens and has a long title.about several families of northern MO. You can probably find them in both of the libraries of Gallatin and Hamilton. For the most part they are very well researched, but not on my line which is Silas Benjamin McCrary. This line leaves a lot to be desired. It is very incomplete and some of their information is just plain wrong. How else can I be of help?
