I'm curious as to how many people on this list have never been to Daviess County, and who would be interested in seeing area photos on the website? I am researching several areas of other parts of the country and would like to see what the area looks like since I probably will never be able to visit the area.. am I the only one? If you would like to see local areas, please answer on the list and tell us what pictures [other than cemetery stones and ancestral faces] would thrill you to see on line. Lanita in Daviess Co.
Lanita, I visited Daviess Co. in 1985. Thoughtlessly, I did not take photos of anything other than headstones. While in Galatin we ate at a Teahouse that had been there a very long time. I cannot remember its name; however the story we were told is that when times got bad, the lady of the house would begin cooking lunch. While she was cooking, her husband would go to the train station and bring customers home with him. The food was delicious, vegetables were served home-style in bowls on the table. I hope it is still in business. I would love to see recent and past photos of businesses and homes in Daviess Co. along with notations of their location. It would be wonderful to see photos (old or new) of old homes with the names of the people who owned them. Thank you for the idea. Researching: Puckett, Roach, Brown, and Barnes, among others. I saw where you are researching a BROWN family from Daviess Co. Mo. My Browns are Russell Edgar 1895-1976, Charles W. 1860-1945, Samuel 1824-1877 & Samuel C. b 1785. Would these by chance be the same as yours. Hi Daviess Co. Researchers, I would love to see area pics... My surname research interests are many. I'm related to the old RAY family and theirs a home there that's been turned into a bed & breakfast; its on the historic list also. Other surnames are MALLORY and ETHINGTON and so many more thru marriages.
