    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Brown, Ninemiers, Cope, Frazier, Donner, Ohley Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/EKB.2ACE/60.365.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Thanks to Gayla Wynn, we have the following: Samuel C. Brown heirs are listed in Daviess County, MO. Deed Book D, pages 233-35 as posted by Gayla Wynn at: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/DaviessDeed?read=5 Children of Samuel C. Brown: John A., born 6 Aug 1811, VA, mar. Nancy Ninemiers, 5 Mar 1834 Catharine, mar. Daniel Ninemiers, 1 Mar 1829, Pike Co, OH Sarah, born 4 July 1816 §, VA, mar. Jesse Ninemiers, 20 Oct 1836, Pike Co, OH David, born 18 July 1818 §, OH, died 7 Feb 1871 §, Daviess Co., MO Philip, born 1821§, OH Rebecca, born 1824§, OH, mar. --- Houghs (or Hughs). Samuel, born 20 June 1825§, OH, died, 13 June 1877, Daviess Co., MO. Elizabeth, born 1825§ William, born 1827§ James, born 1830§ According to the 1850 Census, SAMUEL BROWN, father of the 4-year old twins, JAMES and JOHN, was himself 24. He was listed on the same census page as Elizabeth Brown (age 55) and David Brown (age 31). It therefore seems likely that Edna Hammontree's Samuel is the son of Samuel C. Brown. The eldest of Samuel C. Brown's children, John A. Brown, was my G-G-Grandfather. He disappeared after the 1850 Census and legend has it that he went West in the Gold Rush to California and was never heard from again. Any evidence of this or an alternative story would be appreciated. There was a typhoid epidemic that hit Daviess Co in the 1848-50 period. That may be another explanation. I would be happy to share what I have with others researching this family.
