Have also got a kind and willing volunteer in Caldwell County looking for divorce info. I have a copy of the divorce PETITION, even a copy of the writ showing that it was served in Jackson Co on William A. Burress. So, I know that James Homer Burress' father was "a" William A. Burress. I tracked a William A. Burress from Caldwell Co (he remarried there) out to Kay County, OK and to his gravesite. Got his DC, which is where I found that he is William ALONZO Burress. At what point to I assume I've been a "good enough" genealogist and accept that this is father and son. It is reasonable to expect that if I found James' BC, the father's name would be written as William A. Burress and I would be no further along! At that point I guess I just make the leap in assumption that I have connected the right dots.
