I've been working on the history of a great-granduncle, Marcellus Moss. He was born in Tennessee, the fifth son of Joshua and Jane (Houser) Moss, in 1825. They were on their way to Missouri from South Carolina. He was known in Mercer, Harrison and Daviess Counties at different times, and sometime in the 1860's or 1870's, went westward, and settled in Shasta County, California. He was married to Nancy Rogers, but in California, his wife's name was Talitia (spellings are difficult to make out on the 1880 and 1910 census pages), so Nancy probably died, either in Missouri, California or in between. I have accumulated a lot of information about his children, etc., and have visited his gravesite in a cemetery in Red Bluff, California. If anyone has information about him or his family, I'd appreciate knowing it, and would be interested in making contact with any descendants of his. If anyone is interested in a picture of the cemetery marker, I have a very good one which I would be glad to share. Thanks for any help, tidbits of data, family legends, etc. Margaret Udell --- Margaret Udell --- [email protected] --- EarthLink: The #1 provider of the Real Internet.
