For a number of years I lived in Eads, Colorado. Local history said the town was named for the engineer who designed the Eads Bridge in St. Louis, MO. I've never understood a connection between a small town in S. E. Colorado and a bridge in St. Louis. However, the bridge has a very interesting history, as does the engineer. There is a great deal of info on line regarding James Buchanan Eads who was the engineer. The whole story of the bridge, its builder, etc. is very interesting, even more so if you are part of the Eads family.
