I was told by a distant cousin that my ggrandmother's brother was Richard Childs, which was incorrect. Chiles is the correct spelling. My ggrandmother Dollie Permelia Chiles may have been adopted. She was probably Cheyenne Arapaho. If she wasn't adopted, her son Joy Everett Crow was. He was Indian. I found Dollie in the 1920 census at my library. She married Edward Samuel Crow son of William James Crow who was from Canada. Do you know the sondex code for Chiles? I look for a while and then I give up. I know Dollie must have a family somewhere. I will keep looking. Thanks for your help.

I have extensive Lewis information if you would like to share. I have posted a 1911 50-year anniversary photo on the Daviess County website under the heading of John Lewis family. It includes a photo of Eliza Lewis Parker. Her daughter, Lucretia Ann Parker married Peter Porter Doaks. They are buried near Eliza and James Parker. Please let me know if you would like to share info. I am struck by how little there is on the Lewis family as it was such a large one and of significant hostorical interest to the area. email me at [email protected]
